FBC King will be hosting a Baby Bottle Campaign for the Salem Pregnancy Center in Winston Salem. Salem Pregnancy Center is a pro-life organization that supports mother experiencing unplanned pregnancy by providing care, love, and biblical guidance. Funds donated directly helps the Salem Pregnancy Center in their ministry locally. Bottles are available at the Welcome Desk and will be collected on Mothers Day, 5/12/19.
We have a Small Group Studying a video based study “The Gospel of Mark” by Francis Chan.. In this 11-part series on the Gospel of Mark, author and speaker Francis Chan invites us to walk with him, tracing the steps of Jesus and the Twelve through Israel, Francis explores the major themes of the Gospel of Mark, and asks: Are we willing to take this journey to embrace discipleship? We will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall at 6:45 on Wednesday Nights.
Odds are that your student has a social media account of some king. On March 27 we will be bringing Brian Jennings from First Baptist Church Woodstock to talk to you about it. We want to use this time educating you on the usage and dangers of social media for your student(s). If you’ve ever had questions about Social Media this is a great opportunity to learn and participate in meaningful discussion about what all is out there in terms of Social Media and what it means for your student. We want to provide you with a much information as possible to help lead you family in this area. We look forward to seeing you there.
Each Saturday we will be serving our community by reaching out the YMCA families participating in the Soccer Season. Volunteers are needed to help serve meals and to serve at Samaritans Ministries on Sunday, March 31st between 10:30-2:00pm. We prep food, serve, and help as needed with feeding the homeless. Please contact Bobby Ashworth or John Michael for more information. Sign up sheets are at the welcome desk.
During the Month of April, we will be collecting food for the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina. On April 6th, we will be doing a food drive at Lowes Foods in King. Please join us in supporting the Baptist Children’s Homes and in being a part of the effort to help the hungry in our own state! You may also donate canned food and other items in the Welcome Center at FBC King.
Kids and their families will experience the true joy and excitement of Easter as they make their way through 7 hands on stations each designed to explore a different aspect of that first Easter morning! This event is designed for children ages 4 - 5th grade. Dinner is served at 6:00, with the rotations beginning at 6:30.
We have a new meeting location! Please join us at 8am at the Fellowship Hall at FBC King on April 13th for breakfast, prayer, and discussion. Following breakfast, we will be working a service project in the community. Please join us for a time of worship, fellowship, and mission. Our vision is to Serve. Worship. Assemble. Train. What makes a New Year’s Resolution for healthier living stick? Keeping Christ at the center of those goals. This New Year join our Wellness Ministry Team for a new Life Group studying the Daniel Plan by Pastor Rick Warren. For 8 weeks we will look at Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus, and Friends and how each element will lead us to healthier life styles that glorifies God and grows us as His followers. Meeting on Sunday afternoons at 3:00, we will have Bible study and have a 30 minute walk/jog/run exercise to prepare us for the Feed Stokes 5K and ½ Marathon with raises money for KOM on March 9th. PRAY As a church we encourage you to join us in praying for those effected by the storm and that the comfort and presence of the Lord to be with them during this difficult time.
GIVE We will be collecting an offering for the next few weeks that will be given to the North Carolina Baptists on Mission and 100% of our donations will be given to the Hurricane Florence Relief effort. If you would like to give please designate your gift "Hurricane Florence".
GO We are sending a group of teens and adults on February 28th - March 2nd to do relief work in Lumberton, NC. If you are interested in going, please contact John Michael at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
The Missions Team is providing a meal for the SECU Family House in Winston Salem on February 21 from 5:30pm-7:30pm. We are planning to make soups, salad, and dessert. Also we will provide drinks. If you are interested please call the church office at 336-983-5252.
The Stokes Homeless Outreach will be doing the annual count and outreach to the homeless community in our area on January 30th. FBC King will be assisting from 8:00pm – 11:30pm. On January 27th following the worship service, we will have an opportunity for guests, new members, or recently returning members to learn more about FBC King. Representatives and staff from various ministries will provide information about our church as we will provide lunch for those in attendance. Beginning September 20th -January 10th (skipping Thanksgiving) from 7:00pm-8:30pm we will be having DivorceCare for Parents (Led by John and Donna Michael) and DivorceCare for Kids (led by Jennifer Wilcox/Rick and Vicki Heath). Please join us or share this course with someone in the community who is in need.
Sometimes, it’s difficult to enjoy Christmas when we’re too busy to stop and savor the holiday. For most of us, it feels like the Christmas season get shorter and shorter every year. In our sermon series, “Christ in Christmas,” we’re taken back to the foundation of the Christmas Story, revealing the joy and celebration it brings to all those who place their faith in Christ. Want a Christmas to remember? It happens as we keep the focus on who it belongs –Jesus Christ, our Savior – who is definitely “God with us.”
We will have a Small Group Studying a video based study “A Savior Is Born” began November 14th. This study is a four session study and the group will meet on Wednesdays, , December 12th, December 19th, and January 2nd. We will be meeting at 6:45pm until 7:30pm in the Fellowship Hall.
We will be having our annual Christmas Scavenger Hunt this last Wednesday before Christmas break. Show up in the Youth Room by 6:30PM. We will conclude with Dinner at Mi Pueblo as usual! So bring money for dinner. Any Adults who would like to drive for this let me know! We Should be back at the church around 9PM
For all you peeps who love this time of year but can’t really stand to wrap all your presents, we’ve got a great opportunity for you! THE YOUTH WILL WRAP YOUR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!!! You can bring your own Wrapping Paper if you have a specific type you like or we will have some there for you to choose from! All donations will go towards our Summer Trips of Honduras and CentriFUGE at Liberty. We will be in the Youth Room from 1PM-4PM. We Look forward to seeing you there!
We need your help for the First Baptist King Float for the King Christmas Parade. The theme this year is local heroes. We needs some of our local heroes who are at FBC King to join our float. On December 15th, we will be hosting the PMBA Toy Store in our Fellowship Hall. PMBA congregation are collecting new toys, between $15-$30 a piece. Individuals and congregation may also make monetary donations. We will be collecting funds and toys but volunteers are also needed for setup and on December 14th and manning the store on December 15th. On December 2nd - December 9th, we will be having a week of prayer emphasis for International Missions and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Please Join Us in Prayer. PACKING BOXES and POTLUCK LUNCH On November 18th, following worship, we will join for fellowship and lunch and then we will work together in packing the boxes. Our goal is to pack 350 boxes.
