^{With over 23 years of ministry in Stokes County and surrounding areas, the mission has remained the same: TO HELP FAMILIES IN TIMES OF CRISIS. The ministry reaches well beyond Stokes County and even reaches into Southern Virginia. We have a 15 member Board of Directors, an Executive Director, two Thrift Shop co-managers, and over 140 volunteers. This ministry is supported by contributions from over 90 churches, and has grown to what it is today for the glory of God. THE MINISTRIES INCLUDE:}

THRIFT SHOP - Generous donors have provided clothing of all types to assist families in need. New and used shoes, linens, baby supplies, kitchen utensils are are also available. Donations are received any time KOM is open.

FOOD PANTRY - Our pantry is available through the generosity of churches throughout the region, as well as schools, businesses, as well as individuals. Food is provided to assist families for limited time periods.

HOUSING (RENT) - When available, funds are provided for rent payments for those in crisis situations. A mutual plan with the client, landlord and KOM is negotiated.

MEDICINE - Limited assistance with basic, life-sustaining meds can be provided once per year; this does not include psychiatric medicines.

REFERRAL HELP - Many agencies, organizations, groups, individuals, and companies cooperate with KOM in finding resources to assist our clients.

ENERGY ASSISTANCE - Crisis situations dealing with a lack of heat or power are often met by KOM when funding is available. Funds (when available) are paid directly to utility companies.

COUNSELING SERVICE - When burdens and hardships become overwhelming, sharing with someone else can often be the best first step to finding answers. (Confidentiality is maintained throughout all the services provided by KOM.) Extended referrals are offered when approriate.

BUDGET SKILLS - Assistance is offered in determining a good budget, spending habits, and ideas are suggested to help.
